Worcester State University Lancers Secure Narrow Victory
In a tightly contested non-conference field hockey match, Worcester State University Lancers triumphed over the University of Southern Maine Huskies with a score of 1-0. The only goal of the game came early in the eighth minute, when Maggie Nailor scored following a penalty corner set up by Kaelin Coleman and Charlotte MacGregor. Despite a strong offensive effort from the Huskies, who outshot the Lancers and led in penalty corners, Worcester?s defense, anchored by goalkeeper Madison Ferrara, effectively thwarted all attempts to equalize. Ferrara recorded seven saves, maintaining the Lancers' slim lead throughout the game. This victory improved Worcester State's record to 2-7 and marked their 14th win in the 27-game series against Southern Maine, who now holds 13 victories. Looking ahead, Worcester State will continue their season, aiming to build on this hard-fought win.
